A Grade II Listed Building in Nottingham, City of Nottingham

Tympanum with Willoughby coat of arms, Wollaton Hall Stable Range

Uploader's Comments

Willoughby coat of arms has Quarterly 1 and 4 Azure fretty or (Willoughby of Eresby), 2 and 3 Or upon two bars gules three water bougets argent (Willoughby of Willoughby on the Wolds). Supporters, a monk and Hercules. An owl crest.
The gold fretwork on blue is likely to allude to the weaving of osiers (cultivated willow) in rural Lincolnshire. The water bougets would reflect Budge, how their name was pronounced before they called themselves after their Willoughby manor lordship. (Photo Apr 2018).
