Shop with dwelling above. Late C16 or early C17, altered in
C18 and mid C19. Plastered timber-frame, partly exposed on
west side. Slate roof with gabled ends, rear wing hipped.
Brick stack at rear left corner of front range.
PLAN: 1-room plan front range with shop on ground floor and
rear wing of 2 bays plus 2 narrow bays. The front range was
heightened and a new shop front installed in mid C19.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys 1-window north front. C19 shop front on
ground floor with fascia with heavy moulded cornice and
console bracket, plate glass window and door to right. C20
first floor window and C19 horizontally sliding sash on second
floor with glazing bars. Wing at rear with timber-framing
exposed on second floor of west side.
INTERIOR: first floor of front range has unchamfered axial
beam, exposed corner-post and corner fireplace; second floor
has fielded 2-panel door and attic above has large purlin
(re-used timber). Rear range has jowled posts, slightly
cambered tie-beam trusses with queen and V-struts morticed to
the principals, trenched purlins and diagonal trenched
ridgepiece; exposed wall-framing.
