GV II

Baptist church, now offices. 1863-4. By Cuthbert Brodrick.
Coursed squared gritstone, slate roof. Gothic Revival style.
Nave and aisles under one roof (no clerestory), transepts, NW
tower. Nave windows 2 tiers of 2-light lancets set in
rectangular brick panels. The transepts have tripartite
lancets with cusped heads in brick arched recesses. The W end
has large traceried 3-light windows with flanking lancets and
gabled portal below, to left side NW tower with corner
buttresses, small gables over belfry and slated spire square
on plan with lead-clad stage half way up with lucarnes and
lead-clad finial. Small polygonal apse at E end.
