Terrace of 4 houses. Begun 1826. Red brick, Flemish bond,
slate roof, hipped on left end, tall stacks forward of or
across the ridge between each property.
3 storeys, each house has 2 first-floor windows, the left
(above entrance) narrower than the right; the terrace is on a
slight gradient and Nos 3 & 4 are stepped down. Each house has
stone steps left, up to a 6-panel door and overlight with
radial glazing bars in a pilastered doorcase, some restored.
Sashes with glazing bars throughout, apart from ground floor
Nos 2 & 3; inserted windows centre of each floor of No.2. and
a boarded window ground-floor centre No.3. Bracketed eaves.
Rear: round-arched staircase windows in moulded frames, added
rear wings.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
The 4 houses were the first part of an intended longer terrace
to be built by a terminating building club which collapsed
when the club's treasurer went to America with the funds.
There was originally a lodge next to the entrance gateway, of
which the gate piers survive (qv).
