Bollard at west end of Swan Street

GV II

Bollard. Mid C19. Cast-iron. Approx 0.45m high, the base set
in concrete below present pavement level. Baluster form with
triple roll-moulded waist, flared and roll moulded top with
ball finial. Identical bollards in Neptune Street and Hirst's
Yard, Briggate (qqv). This example probably dates from the
rebuilding of this area by Charles Thornton, (City Varieties,
Thornton's Buildings, Thornton's Arcade (qqv)) in 1865-75.
