First World War memorial. c1920. Designed by Sidney Kitson.
White Portland stone with bronze decorative motifs. Stepped
base, square 2-stage plinth with inscriptions surmounted by
obelisk with cross on S side. Inscriptions: on the W side
'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE', on the N side: 'TO THE
MEMORY OF THE MEN OF HEADINGLEY WHO FELL IN THE WAR 1914'. A
plaque on each side has lists of names. The lower plinth has
attached bronze wreaths and plaques, some missing. Railings
recently added to steps.
