Pair of shops. Mid C19. White painted brick, slate roof
rendered end stacks forward of ridge. 2 storeys, 3 windows,
corner site with 1 window to Oxford Place. Corner shop
entrance flanked by plate-glass windows in pilastered
surrounds; recessed shop doorway centre has panelled door with
margin-glazed overlight in pilastered surround; shop door and
window with fascia bracket right. Plate-glass sashes with
stone sills and rubbed brick flat arches to 1st floor.
Part of the first development on the Oxford Place/ Great
George Street corner; like Nos 1-3 Oxford Place (qv), this
area was built on between 1850 and 1866, probably while the
Infirmary was under construction (qv).
