GV II

Terrace of 5 houses, now home for the blind. Early C19. Grey
Gault brick with slate gambrel roof, hipped on its north-east
corner; 5 ridgeline stacks. Originally 5 terrace houses, the
southernmost unit double fronted.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; 10-window range. 5 lean-to
dormers behind parapet with stone coping and with 6-pane
sashes. Moulded stucco cornice below parapet and returning
along north flank. Southern unit has three 12-pane sash
windows on 1st floor; the ground floor has a central former
door with semicircular head, now a small-paned sash window; to
the south is a canted bay window with sash window with 2
vertical glazing bars; other side of door is a similar 12-pane
sash.
Rest of facade has semicircular-headed entrances alternating
with sash windows; 1st floor has 4 blind window recesses
alternating with sashes. All but one of the door openings have
now been filled with sash windows. The exception has a
projecting Ionic porch with columns, a semicircular fanlight
and door with one large raised-and-fielded panel.
The rear has 7 lean-to dormers each with a 6-pane sash and
five 12-pane and one 9-pane sashes on 1st floor. Ground floor
is obscured by C20 rear slate-roofed extensions projecting out
at right-angles.
