House, now gallery, offices and flat. Early C19 with remnants of earlier building. Timber-framed and rendered with gambrel plain tile roof with half-hipped end. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic and cellar and matching late C19 bay on south-west end; 4-window range. Front has 3 hipped roof dormers with moulded cornices and C20 asymmetrical 12-pane sash windows. Eaves cornice of bold ogee modillions. Three 2-storey canted bay windows with tripartite small-paned sash windows with timber keystones. 1st floor has flush sash window with similar details. Ground floor has pedimented Gibbs surround to entrance between 2 original bay windows, with door of 6 raised-and-fielded panels. Flight of steps with elegant wrought-iron handrails incorporating boot scrapers. 2 cellar lights in plinth. Rear elevation has 2 gabled 2-storey extensions with plain tiles and mixture of windows including sashes. INTERIOR: symmetrical early C19 part has central hall with elliptical arch with keystone to right; now glazed. Chinese-Chippendale staircase in well to rear with elliptical arch at head on 1st floor landing. 2 original rooms on 1st floor have simple marble fireplace surrounds and cast-iron grates. Many early C19 doors and architraves survive and cupboard with cockspur hinges. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: garden wall to rear has stone plaque with letters: 'PW'.
