Row of 3 houses forming part of terraced row, in 2 builds;
with continuous attached verandah. Probably c1847-50; altered.
Painted stucco, slate roof, stuccoed chimneys; cast-iron
verandah with felted roof. Double-depth plan, each house
single-fronted, Nos 7 and 8 built as halls-adjoining pair;
with back extensions.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys plus attics, 3+3+3 windows of which the
centre in each case is blind; with a prominent moulded gutter
cornice (on ornamental brackets at No.6). No.6 has a wide
doorway to the left with side windows and a large 4-pane
overlight; 2 tall multi-paned French windows at ground floor,
2 sashes at 1st floor with horizontal glazing bars and
built-in sun canopies, and a shallow attic storey with two
5-light casement windows (the 3 centre lights canted) and a
dentilled cornice. Nos 7 and 8 have wide doorways with set-in
pilastered doorcases and shallow overlights with margin panes;
and on each floor 2 sashed windows without glazing bars (those
at ground floor now flanked by louvred pseudo-shutters); and
small skylights. Corniced chimneys on front slope. The
attached verandah, carried across all 3 houses, with 3 unequal
bays to each, has standards with scrolled open-work and small
scrolled brackets.
INTERIORS: not inspected.
Forms group with Nos 2 to 5 adjoining to the left (qv) and
with Nos 9 to 12 adjoining to the right (qv).
All the listed buildings in Marine Terrace, together with
those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine
Crescent, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of
Crosby.
