Gates and pair of gate piers. c1924 in a C18 style. Designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Limestone and wrought-iron. Piers of square plan with cornices and ball finials. Ironwork painted with black and gold paint. To each side of the gates there are ironwork panels with finials, linked by an overthrow with the City shield of arms placed centrally. The gates are placed on an axis with and facing the City War Memorial (qv).
