Entrance lodge to Crosby Hall, Back Lane (qv). Probably mid
C19. Sandstone ashlar, shallow hipped roof of graduated slate.
Classical style. Modified cruciform plan formed by main range
on north-south axis with porch to east side, low service wing
to west side.
Single storey, presenting one bay to the drive; with
channelled corner pilasters, plain frieze and moulded eaves
cornice. The facade to the drive has a raised pedimented
centre with a round-headed blank arch containing a
round-headed sashed window with radiating glazing bars; the
east side (to the right) has a prominent full-height porch
with round-headed open arches in all 3 sides, all with simple
moulded hoodmoulds and a small blank shield above. Tall
corniced side-wall chimney to left. Low service wing to left
of that with small tripartite sashed window.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Forms group with associated gate piers and screen wall (qv).
