Gate piers and screen walls at
Liverpool Lodge

GV II

Gate piers with attached screen walls. Probably early to mid
C19. Sandstone ashlar with metal statuary. Rectangular piers,
each with a screen wall approx. 10m long terminating at
another pier. The central piers, approx. 5m high, each have
channelled rustication terminating at a simple cornice, and a
corniced top surmounted by rampant lion displaying a hammer.
(Gates replaced with board doors.) The screen walls, approx.
4m high, are plain, with flat copings; and the terminal piers
are similar to the others but finished with shallow pyramidal
tops. Forms group with Liverpool Lodge (qv).
