Summerhouse approximately 60 metres
north of No.19 Heworth Croft

Summerhouse, now used as boiler-house. Early C19, remodelled
c1842 when Heworth Croft (qv) was built. Orange brick in
English garden-wall bond with slate roof and external brick
stack.
EXTERIOR: 1 storey, octagonal on plan, with pilaster strip at
each angle. Entrance through glazed and panelled double doors
with traceried heads in 2-centred arch of white brick. In each
flanking bay there is a window of 2 trefoiled lights with
stone sill in 2-centred opening with arch of white brick. In
the next bay there is a round-arched radial glazed sash window
in plain brick arch. At rear, on each side of added stack, are
single pointed lights with traceried heads. Building encircled
by white brick band beneath embattled parapet to octagonal
roof.
INTERIOR: timber ceiling supported on timber post. Fireplace
may survive behind later stove.
