Cottage. Probably late C17 extended and altered in C20. Painted rendered stone
rubble and cob. Thatch roof with gable ends. Stone rubble stack heightened in brick
at left end.
Plan: interior altered in C20 to create essentially large single principal room with
C20 extension, one room wide, at right end. The core originally consisted of a
large kitchen/parlour to left, with entry, now blocked, into smaller room to right
divided axially to form a small dairy at the rear beside the original staircase.
Part of the original stone wall partition at the right end of the kitchen/parlour
survives. There was an additional entrance formerly to the rear (roadside) at left
end but now is at left gable end into C20 single storey gable ended porch which
nevertheless incorporates the base of a lateral stack with bread oven in its rear
wall - this formed part of a separate dwelling now demolished which stood at right
angles adjoining left gable end of Little Thatch.
2 storeys. 2 window range. C20 fenestration. Right-hand ground floor window
inserted into blocked doorway. Catslide thatch roof to C20 outshut and extension at
right end. C20 gable-ended porch set back at left gable end has pantiled roof.
Interior: chamfered cross ceiling beam, and narrow hollow moulded lintel to
fireplace with bread oven to left-hand room.
