House. 1839 with later alterations. Painted roughcast with
slate roof. Gothic cottage style.
EXTERIOR: 1 storey plus attic. On the ground floor there are
wide bay windows which have casements with glazing bars, and a
continuous lead and glass roof which forms a central open
porch. The attic is lit by 2 gabled dormers which have
casements with glazing bars set in openings with pointed
arches and moulded surrounds. The recessed front door has a
moulded timber Tudor-arched surround, and 5 narrow panels with
trefoiled heads, glazed with coloured leaded glass. The verges
project at the gables. Gable chimneys.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
HISTORICAL NOTE: Nos 22 and 23 (qv) Clifton Green were built
on a site bought by Seth Agar, grocer, at the sale of the De
Grey estate in 1836, by George and Eli Horsfall, joiners.
Included for group value with other buildings on Clifton
Green.
