The old Town Hall was originally referred to as the new assembly rooms on 21st June 1798.
The sculpture, “Seamsâ€, in front of the old Town Hall is by Oliver Barratt, inspired by the Yorkshire coalfields, which were part of Wakefields heritage, and represents the seams of coal.
