(south-west
side)
Wodley
1/206 Nos. 1, 3 and
5 (formerly
listed as Manor
29.3.66 Farm Cottage)

- II

Large house, now 3 cottages. C17 and perhaps earlier with
central section largely rebuilt in C19. Roughly coursed
rubble, dressed stone and brick with slate and stone slate
roofs. 2-storey house-part largely rebuilt after a fire in
C19. 3-storey crosswing at right (east) and 2-storey at left
which project at front and rear. The left crosswing
(probably the oldest) has projecting plinth, quoins, coped
gable with kneelers and ball finial, 2 windows on the front
with mullion removed but in the side and rear 4 4-light
double-chamfered mullion windows and one 2-light. The right
crosswing has 2 4-light, 2 2-light and one 3-light double-
chamfered mullion windows, coped gables with kneelers,
various blocked windows to the side and 2 4-light, 2 3-light
and a doorway in the rear. The 3-bay central section retains
a small but fine Jacobean chimney-piece, heavily enriched
and on turned side columns. Chamfered beams with stepped
stops exist in much of the house.
