Houses, probably former cottages for firemen from fire station opposite. C 1873. Red brick with
polychrome black brick dressings. Tiled roof with four brick chimneystacks. Two storeys and
basement; 6 windows. Brick modillion cornice.Three paired casements to 1st floor (no 2 altered
in early C20) with timber-framed gables with bargeboards. Casements with horns. Ground floor
has 3 triple casements with cambered head linings. Similar windows to basement. First floor has
diaper and quadrefoil patterns in black brick. Elaborate wood and tiled gabled weather hoods
with carved bargeboards and deep brackets. Six panelled doors, the top 4 panels glazed.
Elaborate cast iron area railings with dograil and scrolled principals. Large chimneybreast to
north. Rear elevation has 2 gables with polychrome diaper decoration and 1 hipped gable.
