Whiteley Lodge

A Grade II Listed Building in Whiteley, Hampshire

1958

Uploader's Comments

In 1958 there was no mains electricity and water was drawn from a well. Lighting was by parafin lamps and 12volt batteries charged by a diesel generator. There was a large pond stocked with fish and a tennis court.
By 1970 everything had changed. There was mains electricity and water and the house had been "modernised". The pond had dried up and there was a large metal scrapyard at the end of the garden.
