ST 96 NE CALNE WITHOUT BOWOOD

5/17 The Boathouse

GV II

Boathouse, mid C19, timber-frame with plaster panels, stone slate
eaves roof, barge boards and decorative ridge bellcote.
Crenellated stone ridge stack. Basement boat-store with chamber
above, single-storey with false attic. Square framing with some
angle-bracing, the east end and north side left open as verandahs
with turned-baluster rails and exposed east gable roof-truss.
Chamber has east end door and leaded windows with attic light
above, though internally open to roof. Marked on 1847 estate map.
