Pair of house. part of a planned estate built between 1843 and
1850 by John Snell. Italianate style. Built of stock brick with
hipped slate roof and central brick chimneystacks. 2 storeys and
basement; 4 window. Cornice and 4 giant pilasters. Marginal
glazing, the 1st floor windows having moulded architraves and
brackets below cills, the ground floor windows cornice and
brackets, cast iron anthemion-motif flower guards and brackets
below cills. Ionic porticoes to sides with flight of stone steps
to street with iron balustrade. Rusticated basement with cambered
headed window. Identical in type to Nos 44 and 46.
