Description


WHALTON WHALTON VILLAGE NZ 1381 (South side) 12/198 East End House GV II House. Early C18 remodelled and heightened in early C19; mid-C19 rear wing and later C19 west extension. Rubble with cut dressings; rear wing squared tooled stone; extensions snecked stone; Scottish slate roof. South elevation 2 storeys, in 2 sections. 3-bay right part is original house, with renewed central door and 12-pane sashes, the upper renewed; 2-bay left extension has similar windows and canted ground-floor bay with moulded cornice. Coped gables with stepped-and- banded end and ridge stacks.

Right return gable coping returned on deep footstones. Rear elevation shows 6-panel door with 2-pane overlight, in alternating-block surround; 16-pane sash to left and 2 blocked C18 windows in irregular stone surrounds above. To right, rear wing with renewed 12-pane sashes.
