7/94 Flintstone Cottage

GV II

House. C16, (clad) early C18. Timber framed and refronted and clad with
red brick with plain tiled roof. Two storeys and basement on plinth with
plat band. Hipped roof with stacks projecting and rebuilt at end left
and projecting and offset at end right. Regular fenestration of 3 wooden
casements on first floor and 2 metal casements on ground floor, with
segmental heads. Central boarded door with raking hood and basement
opening to left. Interior: Frame of large scantling visible in rear wall,
within C20 outshot/extension. Plank and muntin panelling in central
passageway and main rooms, with raised and fielded panelled doors. Newel
staircase and inglenook fireplaces, one with half-circular plan. Cellar
lined with flint and rubble stone, with main joist re-used from the framed
building, with good quality cyma chamfering and reeded soffit.
