1. 5180 HIGH STREET (South Side) Rear Gateway of No 2 from South Street SX 8060 SW 1/98A

2. Gateway to former inn yard with projecting 2 storeys. Outbuilding on north-east side, possibly the site of a tower on the medieval town wall circuit. Welsh slate roof. Devonian limestone rubble with partly weatherboarded and slate hung 1st floor. Openings with timber lintols. C18 and C19 sash and casement windows. Altered doorways. Loft doorway over gateway. Fine C16 or C17 double gate rehung in later gatehouse. Doors of alternate plank and batten type with iron pegs and moulded cover strips. Remains of arched wicket gate in left-hand door.
