LOW HAM
5/53 Farmyard buildings 35 metres
north of Church
GV II

Buildings in model farm layout. C19, apparently including fragments of demolished manor house to south, C17. Local lias
stone cut and squared; double Roman clay tile roof with ornamental ridge and overhanging verges to gables. 'L' plan,
one and 2 storeys, enclosing west and part of north sides of farmyard. West elevation part 2 storeys, with low
segmental arched doorway at north end, then a 3-light hollow chamfered mullioned window with flat head and label, one
mullion missing, above which is a loft door, then come stable doors under a label and another loft door above in a
chamfered opening; subsequently a full one-storey barn, with central tall divided doors under a timber beam. East side
has a lean-to byre along full length, screening a cambered arched doorway and other features; in south face of north
wing a 4-light mullioned window with label, 1 mullion missing: other such windows in north elevation. A good example of
C19 model farm layout, with added significance of C17 fragments, and also the strong group value with the Church
(qv).
