Enclosure walls with two gateways to former kitchen garden.C18 incorporating a re-used
late C17 gateway. Brick and stone. An irregular quadrilateral enclosure to west
of Lovin House (q.v.). Gateways in east and west walls aligned on the central axis
of the garden front of the house. Brick walls c.2.50m high; east wall with moulded
stone coping. East gateway: a pair of rusticated rendered brick piers each capped
by a moulded stone cornice and ball finial. West gateway: re-used C17 masonry; rusticated
surround with flat arch, recessed rusticated jambs and plain lintol. Flat arch surmounted
by a shallow pediment with corona moulding. Gateway sited as the terminal feature
in the axial view from the house.
