Description

ST JULIOT
SX 19 SW
2/134 Penventon Cottage
II
Farmhouse now private house. Circa early C19, possibly with earlier origins. Slate
stone rubble. Slate roof with gable ends. Projecting stone rubble kitchen stack
with cloam oven projecting on left hand gable end and stone rubble stack on right
hand gable end.
Internal access not possible at time of survey. Probably originally a 2-room plan
house with a central entrance, the left hand room, the kitchen, heated from a gable
end stack; there is no stack visible for the right hand room which therefore may have
been unheated. In circa mid C19 a 1-room plan parlour addition was added at the
right hand end with a new entrance between to the left, the original doorway was
blocked and an unheated outshot was added at the back of the kitchen.
Two storeys, regular three window front with C20 fenestration in earlier openings and
C20 part glazed door. Brick segmental arches to ground floor openings. Unaltered
rear elevation with lean-to outshot.
Interior not accessible although the parlour appears to have C19 ceiling beams and a
C19 cast-iron grate.
