Row of houses facing west front of St John's Church. Victorian, showing lingering Georgian style. Brick, with stone cornice and dressings, 3 brick chimneys. 2 storeys. 4 panel led doors up 3 steps, with round-headed fanlights, half-column with palm-leaf capitals, frieze and cornice. 5 windows on ground floor (those of No 27 and 29 have been enlarged, and No 31a (including No 10 James Street) now has a shop window on each street elevation). 10 sash windows above with stone sills and lintels.
Church of St John and Nos 25 to 31 (odd) form a group with Nos 51 and 53
James Street.
