Pair of semi-detached houses, now commercial premises. Mid
C19. Limestone ashlar with slate roof and moulded ashlar
stacks to front and rear slope of the party wall. Double-depth
plans.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; symmetrical block, each house is 2-window
range. Plain eaves band and pilasters to corners and party
wall; continuous moulded string course terminating as hoods on
brackets to outer ranges. C20 doors with overlights. Segmental
arches with keystones and bracketed sills to plate-glass
windows.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: the front gardens are enclosed by low
freestone walls and piers with incised panels and dentilled
cornices to swept caps.
One of a group of houses in New Road built after the arrival
of the railway in 1840-41.
