Public house, now 2 semi-detached houses. Late C18 altered
C19. Squared coursed rubblestone, ashlar quoins and dressings
to the windows, stone slate roof with brick stacks to gable
ends. 3-unit plan with rear outshuts.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-window range. 2-light windows with
plain surrounds and stone mullions, C20 glazing. The central
party wall comes between the lights of the central windows.
No.156 to the right has a C20 gabled porch, original plain
stone architrave to the C20 door and lean-to porch on brackets
to No.154.
INTERIOR: altered. No.154 has the chimney-breast of a former
open fire.
HISTORY: in 1784 this was the Old Bell Public House.
