Cottage. Mid/late C18. Squared limestone rubble with freestone
architraves, stone slate roof with brick stacks to gable ends.
2-unit through-passage plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with attic; symmetrical 2-window range.
The central C20 enclosed gabled porch is flanked on both
floors by C20 2-light stone-mullioned windows. The eaves of
the cottage are higher than No.6 to the right (qv). The quoin
at 1st-floor level has 2 freestone blocks above a vertical
joint implying that this cottage hangs over the party wall.
INTERIOR: the 3-bay roof has a ridge-in-notch, and 2 rows of
trenched purlins. The cupboard stairs to the rear right have a
C18 planked door at the base and a planked wall and chamfered
rail. Sawn chamfered beams to the ground floor.
