ST9173SE BATH ROAD 930-1/9/278 Garden Wall attached to the west of 22/06/78 Ivy Stables and extending to south (Formerly Listed as: BATH ROAD Garden Wall of The Ivy) (Formerly Listed as: BATH ROAD Garden wall about 50 metres East of The Ivy)
GV II
Garden wall. Early/mid C18. Flemish bond brick facing with vitrified headers to limestone rubble. L-plan. Attached to the rear of the coach house; freestone moulded coping and architrave to a C20 door. The wall is Flemish-bond brick with burnt headers on the inside, limestone rubble outside. Approximately 3m high, it extends westwards for approximately 20m where a restored C19 greenhouse leans onto it. The wall turns to the south for approximately 100m; at the corner is a similar moulded stone doorway; this wall has a raised gravel walk. Probably built at the same time as the remodelling of The Ivy (qv). The southern part of the wall was listed on 24/10/86.
