Milepost. Dated 1834. Cast-iron. Drum-shaped top carried on
cylindrical shaft, the top divided into panels by raised ribs.
Raised lettering on top panels record 'Leek 1 mile Ashbourne
14 miles', and on the shaft, London 163 miles'. The domed cap
carries the name of the foundry and the date, 'James Bassett
Ashbourne 1834'.
