The Kangaroo Inn

GV II

Public house. Mid C19. Painted incised stucco, slate roof.
Double-depth plan with 2-storey rear right wing on Fore
Street.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; symmetrical 3-window range. Formerly a
6/6-pane sash over the door flanked by 6/6-pane tripartite
windows, now all are C20. The painted stone doorcase has
panelled pilasters with moulded caps and plinths supporting an
entablature. Ground-floor windows have late C19 cast-iron
Gothic railing in the sills to protect the windows. C20 square
cornice and blocking course.
The right return in Fore Street is blank, the rear wing has a
late C19 shop front with a rich dentil and modillion cornice
to the fascia which is supported by painted stone pilasters
with Corinthian capitals. C20 door to the left with overlight
and C20 small-pane glazing to the right.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
