Stable block to Marlborough House (qv), now house. Early C19.
Stucco on rubble with quoin strips; grouted scantle slate
hipped roofs; louvered octagonal bellcote with steep lead dome
central to main roof; cast-iron ogee gutters. L-shaped plan
with single-storey carriage house on the right. 2 storeys.
1:1-window range front with wing projecting on the left. C20
horned sashes with glazing bars; central C20 6-panel door near
the angle. Rear has 2 round-arched 1st-floor windows with
fanlight heads.
INTERIOR: many reused architectural features fitted when
converted in the 1950s, some of which are of high quality
including: C18 eared wooden chimney-piece, 2 early C19 marble
chimney-pieces, one with corner blocks and roundels; cabled
columns to left-hand chamber; turned and ramped stair
balustrade and some panelled window shutters.
