House, now hotel. Early C19. Painted render with painted stone
dressings and slate roof.
3 storeys with attic above a cellar and 4 bays. The windows
are glazing bar sashes with narrow stone surrounds and shallow
segmental-arched heads. A single small gabled timber attic
dormer. The cellar openings have painted stone surrounds:
those in the outer bays are doorways. The doorway, in the 3rd
bay, is approached by 5 external sandstone steps with nosings.
The door is of 9 raised and fielded panels and has an
overlight with diagonal glazing bars. A reeded architrave has
corner roundels. To each side are tall scrolled brackets
supporting a cornice. Gable chimneys.
INTERIOR: on the ground floor there are 2 mahogany panelled
doors opening off the hall, which has a moulded plaster
cornice. The dogleg stair has an open string, stick balusters,
and a wreathed mahogany handrail.
