House. c1830 with C17 rear wing surviving from earlier house.
Main block in red brick on shallow stone plinth with stone and
artificial stone details; rear wing timber-frame on brick;
hipped slate roofs with boxed eaves; 2 brick stacks. Brick
vaulted cellar under main block.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 2-window range: 6/6 sashes under moulded
stone hoods on enriched consoles. Central early C20 porch with
margin-glazed door and lights, containing original
margin-glazed door in reeded case with corner stop paterae;
flanked by 6/6 sashes under similar hoods.
Left returned side: French windows to right and two 6/6 sashes
under similar hoods at first floor; later C19 2-tier canted
bay window to left with plain sashes and French windows. Left
returned side: roughcast; 6/6 sash and narrow 10/8 sash to
stairwell.
Projecting gable wing with part-glazed 6-panel door in early
C19 doorcase with hood on colonnettes; 2 tiers of 6/6 sashes
with segmental arches. Timber-framing exposed at upper level
of side wall of rear wing above brick projection housing
kitchen range. Rear wall rendered over timber-frame with brick
infill. Scattered fenestration including 8/8 sash.
INTERIOR: rear wing noted to contain exposed posts and ceiling
beams. Main house has c1830 staircase with stick balusters and
turned newels; square shutters, panelled doors on both floors.
Main bedroom has chimney piece with fluted architraves and
paterae corner stops.
