MANCHESTER

SD80SW SMEDLEY LANE, Cheetham 698-1/2/572 (North side) 03/10/74 Nos.9 AND 11

Pair of houses. c.1840; altered. Red brick in Flemish bond with sandstone dressings and slate roof. Double-depth plan, No.9 single-fronted and No.11 double-fronted. Two storeys with cellars, 2+3 windows; with 1st-floor sill-band, wooden modillioned eaves cornice. No.9 has a stone pedimented doorcase and a canted bay window to the left (boarded at time of survey), No.11 has a doorway with plain stone surround and traces of a former pediment above, a 4-pane sashed window to the left and a canted bay window to the right; both have 4-pane sashed windows at 1st floor with flat-arched heads. Roof with skylights on front slope, ridge chimney at junction and gable chimney to the right. Interior not inspected.
