House, now restaurant. Late C18, altered late C19 and late
C20. Brick with painted ashlar dressings and hipped slate
roof. Renewed wooden eaves cornice, single ridge stack. Second
floor sill band.
Corner block, 4 storeys; 6 x 2 windows. Windows are mainly
original glazing bar sashes in graduated courses, with brick
flat arches. Ground floor has 2 similar late C19 shopfronts,
the right one rounding the corner, with plate glass windows
and glazed doors flanked by panelled pilasters. Above, 3
segment-arched recesses, 2 storeys, single windows,
alternating with blanks. Beyond, to right, single windows.
Above again, six 6-pane sashes, the fourth blank. Rounded
corner bay has an arched recess, 2 storeys, and a single
window on each floor. Right return, to George Street, has 2
blanks on each floor. Ground floor doorway altered to a
round-arched window.
INTERIOR has inserted C19 cast-iron columns to the ground
floor.
