SY6684 CHURCH STREET, Upwey 873-1/6/571 (East side) 14/06/74 No.36 (Formerly Listed as: CHURCH STREET, Upwey (East side) Nos.30-36 (Even))
GV II
House in row. Late C18. Square Portland stone rubble, some rendered, slate roofs. A broad-fronted mansard-roofed house with a smaller rear range as a complete separate dwelling, possibly formerly a carriage house. 2 storeys and attic, 2 windows, small-pane casements; 2-light flat-roofed dormers above 3-light, but first floor left replaced by a larger-scale casement. Off-centre left is C19 plank door in C20 gabled porch. Brick stack to right gable and centre, ridge. A straight joint with flush quoins, to the right of the doorway, suggests that this may have been built as a one-bay house, later extended. The rear range is in 2 storeys with a plain slated pitched roof; there is an eaves gable dormer at the N end, and 2 brick stacks. INTERIOR: not inspected.
