House. Circa early C18, extended in C20. Limestone rubble,
rendered at front, painted at rear. Welsh slate roof with gabled
ends. Gable end stacks with short brick shafts.
PLAN: 2-room plan with central entrance lobby in front of
straight staircase between the two rooms; the parlour left and
larger kitchen right, both heated from gable end stacks. Direct
entry at rear into kitchen. C20 outshut at rear.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Not quite symmetrical 2-window south
front. C18 2-light casements with glazing bars, ground floor
right C18 3-light casement with glazing bars. Central plank door
and small C20 open porch. At rear C18 2-light casements with
glazing bars and C20 outshut at centre with lean-to roof and
glazed porch in angle to left to plank door.
INTERIOR: Right hand room (kitchen) has unchamfered axial beam,
exposed unchamfered joists, and large fireplace with roughly
chamfered timber lintel. Left room (parlour): chamfered axial
beam without stops truncated over fireplace, unchamfered joists
and C20 brick chimneypiece. Straight staircase with C20
balustrade. Left chamber has deeply chamfered axial beam with
run-out stops at one end. Plank doors and old floor boards on
first floor. Timber-framed partition at centre and truss with
posts, 2 tiers of trenched purlins and trenched diagonal
ridgepiece.
