2. Corner site with Castle Street. Circa 1840. Part of a group. Three storeys painted brick. Parapet cornice and frieze carried round inset corner onto Castle Street front which has flanking pilaster strips. Block string course to second floor. One window to George Street, one in inset curved corner and three to Castle Street. Windows are recessed, sash, later glazing bars, block sills, on the second floor they break up into frieze and on the first floor have flat brick arches. Facing George Street a first floor bay window of three lights, sash, no glazing bars, pilasters, frieze and cornice, plain apron with plinth. Ground floor has recessed panelled door with rectangular fanlight and block cornice over. This is continued by a heavy moulded cornice supported by heavy scrolled and shell consoles above a Victorian shop front returned on Castle Street for two bays. The end bay, ground floor on Castle Street has a window as in upper storeys which on this front has flanking pilaster strips.

Nos 10 to 20 (even) form a group.
