Boundary railings and gates. c1858. Cast-iron and stone kerbs. Spear-headed railings with bracketed standards, good gates with iron piers made of connected rings curve over to an overthrow lamp, with double gates. Decorative rails extend to the W of the former Guard House (qv) to form the S entrance to the N section of the former infantry barracks. One of the first barracks showing the more open planning established following Aldershot, with boundary railings instead of a high wall, emphasising the barracks role as a transit station, rather than for civil order.
