Late 1880's to 90's. Rectangular tower block of 4 storeys with lower wings to
north. Coursed blue lias rubble with Ham stone dressings. Peaked plain tile
roof; weathervane at apex. South front of tower of 2 window bays. Parapet with
moulded strings. Small shaped gable over 3rd floor window. On 2nd floor, single-light
window to left hand and 3-light mullioned and transomed window to right hand.
On 1st floor, 2-light transomed and mullioned window to left hand and splayed
6-light mullioned and transomed oriel bay to right hand. 3 2-light mullioned
windows on ground floor. At left hand end on ground floor, a single storey addition
with tile roof; 3-light mullioned window; to left again, short extent of wall
incorporating 3-centred gateway and wrought iron gate. East side of Tower also
of 2 window bays; right hand bay projects slightly forward. On 3rd floor, 3-light
mullioned and transomed window to right hand only; on 2nd floor, 2-light mullioned
and transomed window also to right hand bay; on 1st floor, 2-light faceted oriel
bay with corbelling to left hand and 3-light mullioned and transomed window to
right hand. On ground floor, single light window to left hand and 2-light window
to right hand. At north end of tower, a lower 2-storey and attic wing with 2
window bays along Pound Road. To left hand, tall 2-light mullioned and transomed
window; to right hand, attic window with shaped gable and splayed 5-light bay
on both 1st and ground floors. A further single storey wing to north of latter;
this has a 5-light mullioned and transomed window to left hand, and, projecting
forward to right of it, a further gabled bay with 2 2-light mullioned windows.
Built as a house for the masters of St Michaels College (now Coram Court).
