House, mid C17. Large dressed stone, stone slate roof. 2 storeys. 3-room
front with through-passage plan with 2-storey porch. South front reads:
4-light double chamfered mullioned window with same over (both lack 2 mullions);
9-light double chamfered mullioned window with 2 king mullions (lacks 6
mullions), hoodmould with straight return. Over are chamfered mullioned window
of 4 lights (2 mullions removed) and one of 2 lights (lacks mullion). Porch
has plinth, open doorway with chamfered surround. 1st floor jetties out with
simple chamfer (similar to q.v.). 2-light window. Coped gable with kneelers,
all obscured by ivy. Set within porch is similar doorway with stop chamfered
surround. 6-light window with 4-light over (both altered to 2-wide lights).
All windows are altered with modern glazing. Original west gable rebuilt early
C18, has kneelers and stack. 2 other stacks. Attached to rear is kitchen range
forming a T-shaped plan. One cell is C17 with added early C18 cell in watershot
masonry, stone slate roof. Retains chamfered mullioned windows of 2 lights and
6 lights (lacking mullions, but retaining king mullion). Quoins, coped gable
with kneelers and stack. One other stack to this range. A once fine house
severely damaged by altered windows.
