House and restaurant; formerly rectory; early C18, altered late C18 and late
C19. 4 windows; 2 storeys and attics. Timber-framed and rendered, the
framing now exposed and painted; slender close-studding with primary bracing.
Hipped gambrel roof, the lower slopes plaintiled, the upper double Roman
pantiled; hipped plaintiled late C19 casement dormers. C18 axial chimneys of
red brick, the heads rebuilt C19. Small-pane sash windows, most having mid C18
thick glazing bars and crown glass. Mid-18 entrance door with 6 fielded
panels; open C20 timber-framed and plaintiled porch. The Roman pantiled and
slated roofed wings to right added C19. Some good internal features of c.1750
to c.1780, perhaps in 2 stages: staircase with turned balusters, and console
brackets beneath treads; 4-and 6-panel doors; enriched fireplace surrounds
and grates.
