GV II

Lodge to children's hospital (qv). c1910. By W and TR Milburn.
Bright red brick with timber-framed gable; roof of plain
tiles. T-plan. One storey, 4 irregular bays facing drive.
Central porch with long open sidelights to recessed door. To
right of door a wide bay contains a tall canted bay window
with timber-framed gablet under wide gable in similar style
with projecting eaves; long fixed light inserted to left of
canted bay. To left of door a canted bay breaks through the
eaves under a hipped roof; set back to left of this a narrow
bay with small light, partly pivoted. Roofs hipped, except at
front right gable. Ridge and mid-pitch chimneys. Right return
to Durham Road has one storey, 4 windows, the central 2
breaking eaves under cornices, all sashes with glazing bars.
