II

5 coastguard cottages. Mid/late C19. Coursed red sandstone
rubble with ashlar dressings, continuous slate roof with brick
stacks to party walls. Double-depth plans. Tudor Gothic style.
2 storeys; each cottage is one-window range. Each cottage has
a forward-facing gable over a 3-light casement window with
stone mullions; similar but larger windows to the ground floor
under a continuous string course. The terminating cottages
have single-storey canted bays with hipped roofs and doors in
flanking lean-tos; the central cottages have hood moulds and
Tudor arches over planked doors with strap hinges. INTERIORS
not inspected. Complete and attractive examples of their type.
