Farmhouse, C17, altered. Coursed sandstone rubble with quoins, slate roof
with a chimney behind the ridge (2 other chimneys at rear). Three-bay
baffle-entry plan (recently extended at left end in similar materials).
Two storeys; 2-storey gabled porch at junction of 2nd and 3rd bays has
plain doorway with large lintel, jambs of large stone blocks, former
1st floor window now blocked. 3 windows on each floor, all with altered
glazing; those at ground floor left of porch have a continuous hoodmould,
chamfered surround, one remaining mullion to each, and now 2 and 4 lights;
others are casements in altered openings. Right end wall has a blocked
1st floor doorway and evidence of former external steps where there is
now a window. Rear has outshut to 1st bay (with a modern catslide roof),
a window in the 2nd bay which has a chamfered stone case, one remaining
mullion, and a hoodmould; and a blocked doorway in the 3rd bay.
Interior: altered, but 2nd bay retains large inglenook fireplace with
ovolo-moulded bressummer, and beams which are also ovolo-moulded and
stopped.
